At my first guitar lesson I learned. . .
#1 Playing the guitar HURTS! Seriously, the tips of my left-hand fingers are not feeling so good right about now. My teacher says that eventually I will get callouses which will eliminate the pain (I think). Hmmmm. Do I want callouses? Not sure.
#2 The only other people interested in learning to play the guitar (apparently) are teenage boys (who, in their words, want to be able to play songs by Cream). Not that I signed up for this class to make friends or anything, but I did not expect to be the only adult there that was not waiting to give their teenager a ride home.
#3 The C chord is difficult. F, near impossible. G & Am were not so bad. I was wondering the whole time, are my fingers long enough? Is this even possible? Which brings me to . . .
#4 I love learning new things, in theory. In reality, new things frustrate me.
All that said, I'm glad I signed up and hopefully by the end of the 6 weeks I will look back at this post and laugh. :) If there are any guitar players out there reading this post, I can use all the advice & encouragement I can get!

Keep me updated. I still think you are super cool for doing this. Maybe we can get the Blue Note to sign you after your six weeks.
You'll be amazed how quickly those chords will come to you. And how many songs are available on line to jam out to. Forget Cream, though. You want Cheap Trick!!
I think you're supercool, too.
It takes a lot of practice to get the callouses...I took guitar for a semester in college, and yeah, it sure hurts! But my roommate kept at it and practiced a lot, and she got the callouses, and they do keep your fingers from hurting. The chords will come...
I think I still have my flutaphone if you want to go on tour. I may have my music still too... I can play the Star Wars theme song :)
I know nothing about guitars, but I took trumpet lessons (2 lessons) and then quit. I was like 10. I quit because blowing into the mouthpiece made my lips itch! Crazy huh? I don't think I was quite cut out for the trumpet. But, I do hope to learn to play the piano some day. Hang in there, Taina.
