Did I just say that outloud?
This morning I was picking up a prescription at Walmart. There was only one person in front of me so I was thinking/hoping it would be a short wait. The lady behind the counter asked the man in front of me if he wanted to pay for his prescription there or up front (at the regular check out lines). He asks if he can pay for all of his stuff at the pharmacy and points to his cart which is nearly FULL. I am waiting for the walmart employee to politely tell the man that he will have to check out his groceries up front. Ummmm, no. She says, "sure why not. I have no problem with that." The first thought that crossed my mind was, "you have GOT to be kidding me." I didn't realize that I actually spoke those words outloud until the man turned around and saw me waiting. Thankfully, he changed his mind, apologized, paid for his prescription (only) and headed off to the regular check out lines. Oooops. While I was glad the man changed his mind I am usually better at censoring my tongue.

I took my car in for routine maintenance last week and overheard the gentleman next to me, obviously retired, ask another service rep how long it would take. The man said he didn't have anything to do that day and said he could just sit there and wait for his car to be done. When he heard it was going to be 3 hours he decided to have the complimentary shuttle take him back home to wait instead. I was obviously dressed for work and had my work bag with me and got there extra early to ensure I'd be at work on time. When we got into the shuttle the driver asked who wanted to be dropped off first. The man with nothing to do immediately spoke up and asked to be taken home first. I was appalled. Turns out he lived on the opposite side of town from my job and I was late to work. Of course I was super annoyed so when he got out and said, "Thanks for dropping me off first." I sarcastically said, "Yeah, I didn't want to be at work on time anyway." And of course, I didn't mean to say it out loud but I did. Oops.
So glad that wasn't me. I could totally see me doing that.
